[synopsis] => Poetry that reflects my mood at the time, poems about life and love and relationships ending. Poems and stories that everyone can relate to. Situations that can happen to any of us in every day life and also the "not so common" variety of stories like murder mysteries and scandals of every nature. Characters that "come alive" as you read.

My autobiography begins when my father, age 12 and his sister age 11 and their parents, (my grandparents) came to the USA by ship in 1913. The story depicts life in those days up to the present time. After working for a few years in upstate New York, my dad decided to return to Italy at age 23 to find a wife. When he met my mother, she was only 15 at the time. Her parents told him to return in 3 years so they could marry. That is exactly what happened! During those 3 years my mom wrote constantly to him and enclosed photos of herself with the letters. I still have some of those photos to this day. He may have written back once or twice. At the end of the three years he returned to Italy (Florence) by ship to marry my mom. He took her on a month long honeymoon all throughout Italy. Florence, Rome, Pisa, Milan, Genova, etc. She, of course, had never been anywhere so it was thrilling for her but she was also somewhat timid. Imagine! Coming to America with a new husband; not knowing the English language yet. Seeing the new world for the first time. It was all "beyond belief" for her. Subsequently, my two sisters were born and then I was born in the house as my mom never made it to the hospital. My dad was a dinner Chef by trade and owned his own restaurant at one time in New York. I still have the menus. In 1941 an entire breakfast with two eggs, bacon, toast and coffee was 40 cents! In 1963 a broiled sirloin steak with french fries and a vegetable was $ 1.85. A tuna fish sandwich with coffee and pudding was 75 cents.

I had many friends throughout grammar school and high school. At my graduation from High School I was awarded the title of "Class Poet." I had already been bitten by the "writers' bug" and it continues to this day. Later, my experiences working with attorneys and high class business people led me into a different life. Working hard at my job but also taking time for a month's vacation yearly to some exotic island or famous destination in the U.S. or to Italy and France to visit relatives and explore the region. (Museums/Art Galleries, magnificent restaurants). I can write about all this now because I've experienced so many things. Joyful and sad. I have hundred and hundreds of photographs going back to when I was 5 years old. They tell the story. I was very lucky to have had such wonderful parents and to have known both grandparents. They were all very hard working individuals who loved their families and did the best they could in those days. But...in the end...all that matters is Love.
